THAI PERMANENT RESIDENCE
A foreigner who has stayed in Thailand for at least three consecutive years, with a non-immigrant visa (business, retirement, or marriage), may apply for permanent residence.
The Thai Permanent Residence status comes with its own conditions as set by Thai immigration. This is only offered once a year and there is an annual quota per nationality. The whole process takes about a year to complete.
There are a number of advantages you can enjoy by holding Thai PR status, as following:
Stay in Thailand permanently without needing a visa and therefore having to extend it annually
Are not required to report every 90 days to the Immigration Bureau
Purchase a condominium without having to remit funds from aboard
Are registered in the Household Registration Book of your place of residence
May also apply for Thai naturalization
Be appointed a director of a Thai public company
Work permit is much easier to obtain than before
May act as a guarantor for another person
May apply for extension of stay and permanent residence status for your non-Thai family members based on your Thai PR
Your children born in Thailand can be granted Thai nationality
